The Indiana Afterschool Network (IAN) wants every young person in Indiana to have the best chance at making a great life for themselves and a positive impact in their communities.  We believe out-of-school time programming (i.e., before school, after school, and during the summer) can play a major role in that.  For more than two decades, IAN has been committed to supporting the organizations that provide out-of-school time (OST) programming.  Our commitment to those programs has included supports and resources that promote continuous program quality improvement, increasing families’ access to OST programming, and advocacy that help to shape the environments in which OST program providers serve.  In short, we are committed to serving the program providers that directly serve Indiana youth.

POSITION SUMMARY

IAN’s Director of Membership is a member relations professional who is responsible for the leadership and growth of IAN’s membership program, which is comprised of the organizations that provide OST programming.  Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the Director of Membership manages IAN’s membership program, building relationships with Indiana’s OST program providers and other partners to strengthen and grow membership, collects and analyzes member data to identify opportunities and strategies for improvement of the member program, and coordinates related marketing efforts.

The Director of Membership must live in Indiana.

 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategy

  • Develop thorough knowledge and understanding of IAN’s membership program and related operations.
  • Effectively position IAN in outreach initiatives.
  • Evaluate and report on membership program reach and impact.  Monitor efficacy and adjust as needed.
  • Establish and cultivate professional relationship that strengthen the overall membership program.
  • Innovate towards continuous improvement of the member benefits package to achieve member satisfaction.

Member Relations

  • Develop and implement statewide member recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Develop, refine, and facilitate the membership experience.
  • Support IAN members by responding to inquiries, questions, and concerns.
  • Develop initiatives to ensure members engage with IAN and member benefits.
  • Support marketing campaigns and communication efforts.
  • Collaborate with IAN’s Communications staff to grow membership through marketing campaigns and outreach.

Program Management/Administration

  • Process membership applications, renewals, and resignations.
  • Perform data management tasks in IAN’s CRM (Salesforce) including data entry, reporting and other duties related to keeping membership records up to date.
  • Prepare regular reports for internal and external partners regarding membership participation and engagement.
  • Maintain IAN’s member program website, communications, assets, and support materials in partnership with the marketing team.
  • Administrative functions include planning and carrying out member marketing efforts, managing listservs, coordinating billing and invoices, preparing, and sending member communications, etc.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (evidenced by a cover letter).

  • Strong problem solving, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience supporting a membership program or a similar customer-focused experience.
  • Experience providing direct member services and support.
  • Passion for youth work and an understanding of the connection between in-school and OST learning
  • Willingness to travel throughout the state for outreach activities.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.
