Position Summary

As a head of the Outreach Team, the Outreach Director will grow, organize, engage, and mobilize the campaign’s broad and diverse coalition to defeat I-2117.  The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to develop and implement electoral stakeholder outreach strategies and will have experience managing a diverse team of staff and volunteers. The position will require strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail. The candidate will be committed to building a strong coalition of committed supporters in a fast-paced environment and able to handle a heavy workload.  Experience in climate advocacy and an established network with community organizations within WA State is preferred but not required. The Outreach Director will report to the Campaign Manager.


What You Will Do

  • Create, implement, and manage an outreach strategy, in line with the No on 2117 campaign plan, to grow and engage campaign allies and supporters
  • Effectively manage and motivate an outreach team of staff and volunteers to coordinate and strategically execute the outreach plan
  • Support and build outreach issue area staff/volunteer leads and identify strategies for comprehensive engagement of stakeholders in existing and new issue areas
  • Maintain regular contact and engage the partnership of key stakeholders to advance education, messaging, and support of the campaign
  • Design, organize, and execute message and recruitment training of coalition members
  • Lead weekly meetings with outreach staff, volunteers, and key stakeholders to manage coalition growth and ensure ongoing messaging is aligned with organizational goals
  • Track, coordinate, and fulfill or assign requests for campaign engagement or speakers at community or organizational events or meetings
  • Manage campaign endorsement process and regular communication with endorsers
  • Maintain well-organized and detailed tracking of outreach work, communications, requests, follow-up, and outcomes
  • Coordinate with the Steering Committee lead and campaign management to ensure collaboration and efficiency on shared work and outcomes
  • Collaborate with our internal team and external partners to anticipate, identify, and manage coalition challenges and dynamics
  • Coordinate with team members to transition coalition resources to organizing and volunteer mobilization


What You Bring

  • At least two cycles of campaign experience at the director level or experience in a leadership staff position
  • Experience in campaign outreach and/or organizing, issue advocacy, or a related field
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail while being process-oriented
  • Ability to manage, coach, and support  staff, consultants, and volunteers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced quickly evolving environment, prioritize tasks, and learn quickly
  • A positive, problem-solving mentality
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • A willingness to pick up pieces of projects when needed, as well as take ownership of projects and see them through to completion
  • Flexibility and access to transportation to travel around the state
  • Enthusiasm for protecting our air & water, climate advocacy, and advancing climate policy
  • Willing to work campaign hours, including nights and weekends


Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $6,000 to $8,000 per month

Benefits: Health care and paid sick leave. Additional incentives and benefits may be available.
