Position Overview

The Development Associate plays an important role in supporting and participating in all aspects of SHOFCO's fundraising and communication efforts. Utilizing strong writing and communication skills, they assist the development and communications staff in the management and stewardship of the donor database, support donor relations and provide administrative support. The Development Associate reports directly to the Development Director.

Responsibilities

Administrative

  • Serve as administrator to the Development Team and provide in assistance all areas as needed (including expense reports, general NYC office administration)
  • Manage and send out SWEP products via Etsy store
  • Serve as first point of contact to general SHOFCO inquiries (phone, email, website)

Individual Fundraising & Communications

  • Manage donor acknowledgement process, including digital and print acknowledgements
  • Assemble and distribute monthly e-newsletter
  • Provide fundraising campaign assistance and strategy for retail donors (less than $5k) and

sponsors, including email and social media drafts, email distribution, list management

  • Track results of fundraising campaigns and provide updates to Advancement team
  • Assist with any event planning and scheduling
  • Support in CRM administration, including data entry, producing reports, and data clean-up
  • Proofreading and editing documents, proposals, grant reports
  • Prospect and donor research, including institutional donors as needed
  • Support Chief Advancement Officer on Board Meeting logistics, as needed
  • As needed, work with Finance office on quarterly donation reconciliations between CRM and financial systems
  • Manage internship program

Sponsorship Program

  • Assemble and distribute sponsorship updates
  • Assemble and distribute sponsor newsletters
  • Track sponsorship payments, provide acknowledgements, and steward renewals and/or lapsed

sponsors

  • Support as needed to US-based high school students
  • Manage high-level sponsors and steward renewals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years administrative/non-profit fundraising experience preferred
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Drive required, CRM programs and InDesign a plus)
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Some graphic design experience a plus
  • Analytical thinker with outstanding attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and goal-driven
  • Passion for the mission and work of Shining Hope for Communities
  • Must be able to work out of SHOFCO’s New York, NY office
