The Executive Director (the "ED") essentially runs
NELA/NY on a day-to-day basis. The ED handles all NELA/NY's administrative
details, coordinates Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs, administers CLE
certification process, supervises National Employment Lawyers Association’s
Referral Service (NELARS) administrator, assists and/or runs various NELA/NY
events, projects and committee efforts, helps the Board establish and carry out
its goals.
On an "as needed" basis, the Executive Director
coordinates and consults with the President and with such other officers, Board
Members, Committee Chairs and general NELA/NY members. The Executive Director
has general oversight of the finances of NELA/NY and NELARS, but not limited
to, depositing funds, paying bills, regulatory compliance, planning
expenditures, some bookkeeping, preparing reports, financial planning,
assisting with tax returns and the like, as well as working with the Treasurer
who has overall responsibility for NELA/NY's finances.
The Executive Director is responsible for maintaining
professional and cordial relationships with Board members. As the person having
the most hands-on contact with the membership, it is expected that the ED will
endeavor to establish good and helpful relations with new and old members of
NELA/NY.
