Overview of the COER Department:

The Community Organizing and External Relations Department (COER) deepens UJA’s impact by aligning our Government and External relations work alongside UJA’s planning activities. Specifically, COER is responsible for 1) Deepening UJA’s relationships with key elected officials as well as government, community, and foundation leaders 2) Leveraging UJA’s government relations expertise to advance key UJA and Jewish communal priorities 3) Increasing UJA’s visibility around key public policy issues and expanding our network of partners 4) Advancing UJA’s work and strengthening Jewish life and community within local neighborhoods.   

 

Position Summary:

The Community Strategy and External Relations manager will work alongside the Managing Director of Antisemitism to help advance the vision of the COER department and our work related to combating antisemitism. This professional will be responsible for leading critical initiatives that require leveraging assets and relationships across CPER as well as within and beyond UJA.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Advance UJA’s work on combatting antisemitism as it relates to Jewish Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and expand resources and offerings.
  • Design and launch new community activation software around key issues and to advance more engagement between elected officials and local Jewish communities.
  • Advance new strategies and programs that better incorporate UJA’s network in advancing COER’s priorities.
  • Creating collaborative tables that better leverage relationships and assets that reside across UJA.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:   

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ relevant experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic, public, or private sectors.
  • Ability to analyze funding opportunities, ask critical questions, formulate and evaluate possible courses of action, and articulate recommendations.
  • The ideal person is a strategic thinker and thought leader, experienced in grant making and community building.
  • Knowledge of UJA-Federation and its network of agencies.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident and compelling public speaker.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills along with passion and energy.
  • Flexible and adaptive within a complex work environment.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $95,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
