If you have the required skills, experience, and talent to instruct and inspire your staff, you can make a big difference here, providing astute administration and training for the WIC Program that will impact our hospital's diverse community wellness mission.  

We seek a director with thorough knowledge of the concepts of nutrition and dietetics to be responsible for the overall management of the WIC program services, ensuring that Hospital, Federal, State, and Civil Rights guidelines, staffing, and caseload management are met. In this leadership role, you will:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of our annual nutrition services, including self-assessment, time effort, QA, and CAP validation
  • Develop, maintain, and implement program policies and procedures to meet regulation standards
  • Monitor adequate staffing and caseload and provide guidance, resources, training, and evaluations at all levels
  • Prepare and submit plans, grants, contracts, budgets, policies/procedures, and payroll promptly
  • Recruit staff that can provide culturally/linguistically competent service to ensure a positive patient experience
  • Manage the Farmers Market Nutrition, Breastfeeding Peer Counseling, Breast Pump and Healthy Lifestyle programs

The qualified professional must have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutritional Science, Community Nutrition, Clinical or Human Nutrition, Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State Education Department
  • Minimum 5 years administrative experience in a clinical or community nutrition setting, including at least 2 working directly in a WIC Clinic
  • Demonstrated experience working with low-income and culturally diverse populations
  • At least 2-5 years’ experience writing grants; knowledge of general business management and budgeting, as well as the development of training materials
  • Effective public relations, operational management, planning and analysis skills; and computer proficiency 
  • Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist preferred; Registered Dietitian and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant certifications highly desirable
