The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! is NYC’s longest-running, free performance festival, and a beloved summer tradition featuring approximately 30 varied large-scale performances and attracting upwards of 200,000 people each summer to the Prospect Park Bandshell.


About the Front of House Manager Role: 

BRIC seeks a qualified Front of House Manager to create an excellent attendee experience, to prep the site for each performance, ensure smooth operation of entrances/exits, and handling of audience concerns.


What You’ll Do in the Role:

The Front of House Manager will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Operations Manager:


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise Entrance Staff.
  • Work with Operations Manager and Site Coordinator to plan and execute all chair set-ups and break-downs for the season.
  • Work with Operations Manager to identify safety issues, and follow protocols for emergency evacuation plans.


Throughout the Season:

  • Schedule and manage the team/pool of Entrance Staff.
  • Communicate with Site Coordinator about daily and ongoing site needs and issues as they arise throughout the season.
  • Communicate with the Volunteer Coordinator about front of house assignments and roles for all volunteers for each show.
  • Communicate details of each event and assignments to all Entrance Staff.
  • Ensure all entrance Staff, Security, and Volunteers are assigned entrance locations, understand roles and are prepared to interact with attendees.
  • Work with Operations Manager to open and close the venue to the public.
  • Directly supervise entrance operations including entrance staff, audience donations collection, and line managers. Maintain admission counts continuously throughout every show.
  • Work with the Community Care Manager to attend to ADA/special seating needs.
  • Distribute programs and other materials with Entrance Staff and Volunteers.
  • Write daily front of house notes after each performance for inclusion in show reports.
  • Work with Operations Manager to execute severe weather and emergency evacuations.
  • Manage and expedite timekeeping for Entrance Staff.

  • Must obtain F-04 Certificate of Fitness (Fire Guard) issued by the FDNY - BRIC will assist applicants with preparation for the examination.
  • The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal and team leadership skills. Able to work under pressure and in inclement weather. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Venue Manager or Front of House Manager in a music/performance venue or theater environment (or equivalent.) 
  • Experience and strong ability to recruit, organize, and delegate work to multiple teams. Strong verbal and organizational skills, and a professional presence required. Bilingual a plus.



Other Things to Know:

  • Status and location: This is a part-time, exempt role based at the Prospect Park Bandshell Hours will vary each week. 
  • April 22 - June 7: pre-season planning & training hours.  
  • June 8 - Aug 24: 2024 Season. Most shows occur on Friday and Saturday evenings with some exceptions. 
  • The Front of House Manager will be provided an exact schedule of dates upon hire, and be expected to attend all trainings and events. 
  • Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $28
