The Alexander Assistant Director makes an impact at AJC by serving the strategic and administrative needs of the Regional Office and the Young Leadership department by planning and implementing a variety of programs, projects, initiatives, and events that advance AJC’s mission and advocacy efforts. This position is responsible for executing strategies, goals, and objectives, cultivating relationships and corresponding with strategic contacts, coordinating events and meetings, and completing research, reporting, and other administrative tasks.

The Alexander Assistant Director recruits and engages with members of ACCESS, AJC’s young professional division, as well as AJC's groundbreaking Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) High School program, to shape the future of global Jewish advocacy.

The Alexander Assistant Director does all this while adhering to AJC’s core values: Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence, and Accountability. 

This position is located in the New England Regional Office in Boston, and works closely with the national Alexander Young Leadership Department team to grow opportunities for young professionals and high school students locally and nationally.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, support and facilitate seven yearly LFT sessions focused on issues related to Jewish advocacy, including antisemitism, Israel, and Jewish identity.

• Identify phenomenal Jewish young professionals, engage them in ACCESS, and transform them into leaders in AJC and financial supporters of AJC’s mission.

• Implement and plan ACCESS programs, meetings, and events in close coordination with regional and ACCESS Global staff.

• Support ACCESS engagement with elected officials, diplomats and community partners through advocacy meetings and programming.

• Support/augment AJC’s campus engagement by developing relationships with Hillels and campus leaders in the region.

• Develop and expand joint advocacy and diplomatic opportunities with community partners from other religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.    

• Contribute to the development and execution of the department's strategy, goals, objectives, and action plans

• Manage, and facilitate advocacy and outreach programs, projects, initiatives, events, meetings, trainings, and/or missions

• Implement new opportunities to expand departmental initiatives beyond existing programs

• Participate and support the work of Boards, committees, task forces, or working groups

• Leverage resources to help build awareness of and support for the AJC and department initiatives

• Assist with development efforts, including participation in fundraising initiatives and plans, donor outreach, providing materials for grant applications and reports, and related activities

• Maintain and manage programmatic spending for initiatives they work on

• Track and analyze programmatic activities, metrics and impact

• Research, monitor, and report on developments, issues, and trends impacting the department and AJC priorities

• Coordinate, attend, and/or lead meetings

• Develop relationships with and engage strategic contacts, groups, and organizations

• Support the building of coalitions, partnerships, and initiatives with organizations and other external partners to further AJC’s mission

• Assist in representing AJC and the department in the community, at functions, in the media, and in other public forums

• Draft, edit, and disseminate communications resources and materials 

Education, Training, and Experience

• Bachelor's degree

• 5-7+ years of related work experience
