Description

St. Peter’s School (SPS) seeks an Assistant Director of Development to join its Development team. Beginning July 1, 2024, their primary responsibility will be the management of the School’s Annual Fund, gift processing, database management, event coordination, and alum and community outreach. This individual must be a proactive self-starter, a creative problem-solver, a strategic thinker, and an extremely organized, detail-oriented multi-tasker. This is a full-time, twelve-month, in-person position.

Annual Fund

  • Works with the Development Director to set the annual giving strategy to meet goals
  • Manages the Annual Fund
  • Responsible for coordinating the appeal process - direct mail, email, social media, phone-a-thon, etc.
  • Identifies prospects for leadership giving and major gifts pipeline 
  • Provides updates and information on annual giving donors and highlights donors of interest
  • Manages annual giving volunteers

Gift Processing & Database Management

  • Enters and processes gifts
  • Prepares acknowledgement letters
  • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of the Veracross database

Events

  • Plans and manages events for the development office
  • Assists with communication and marketing around events
  • Manages volunteers

Alum Outreach

  • Creates programming for alum, focused on engagement and outreach
  • Focuses on alum pipeline for leadership giving
  • Is the main contact for alum donors
  • Finds ways for alum to connect with current students and families
  • Coordinates alum newsletter

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and two to five years of development and fundraising experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to perform additional duties as they arise.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the culture of independent schools, especially a (PS, PK, or) K through Eighth Grade school, is a plus but not required
  • Experience in or knowledge of database management
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

This is an exciting time to join the St. Peter’s community. SPS recently began its strategic planning process in anticipation of its upcoming bicentennial. This individual should express a positive attitude, interest in personal development, ability to work collaboratively on a team, and ability to receive and implement feedback. They should also maintain flexibility and be willing to adapt throughout the school year. This is a forward-facing position with occasional evening and weekend events.
