Recruitment Associate (Part-Time/Temporary) - Washington, D.C.

The High Level

The recruitment associate will play a key role in helping the D.C. region to hire at least 50 AmeriCorps members to serve at Reading Partners. They will support the region with full-cycle recruitment and facilitate the AmeriCorps interview process. Reporting to the Program Director, the recruitment associate will support AmeriCorps member engagement to strengthen onboarding and retention strategies for the region. This part-time and temporary position concludes in August 2024


What You’ll Do


Sourcing & Job Publicity: Implement a plan to recruit 37-45 AmeriCorps members for Reading Partners, D.C., through various media channels:

  • Pipeline building (targeting underrepresented groups of Reading Partners AmeriCorps) to generate over 325 applications
  • Build relationships with local and national affinity groups/organizations to create or sustain relationships with Reading Partners
  • Assist with marketing our available positions by emailing local churches, synagogues, nonprofits, summer camps, college professors, college club leaders, job training programs, etc., with information about our available positions.
  • Provide strategic guidance and implement tactics to build brand awareness and host info sessions
  • Check regularly to ensure that all job postings are active on sites
  • Discuss recruitment strategies, challenges, and successes with point of contact at the organization
  • Help track metrics for week-by-week recruitment goals and advise on the process to get to the goal


Screening, and Interview Management: 

  • Conduct and schedule over 175 phone screening interviews, resulting in over 100 screening interviews conducted
  • Schedule virtual interviews as applicable, matching the candidate's schedule with the team
  • Take notes on phone screens for all applicants, using our selection rubric, and recommend for the virtual/in-person interview when applicable 
  • Check references of all candidates via email, following up via phone when necessary;  check in with candidates if their references are unreachable 
  • Partner with the Program Operations Manager to support the onboarding of confirmed candidates by ensuring they have all offer letters, background checks, IDs, and onboarding documents satisfactorily filled out and submitted on time


Help the D.C. region execute a communication plan for new hires:

  • Support D.C. staff in executing their accepted member engagement
  • Suggest opportunities for accepted AmeriCorps Members to engage with programming, staff, volunteers, and current AmeriCorps Members
  • Design a communications plan to ensure consistent engagement and sharing of information with accepted members
  • Design a bi-weekly newsletter for accepted members


About You!

  • Have 1-3 years of experience in community outreach and/or recruitment
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people
  • Have excellent written communication skills to send a large volume of emails, and social media content
  • Have excellent verbal communication skills to conduct a high volume of phone calls 
  • Must have access to reliable internet, phone, and computer
  • Have the ability to assess candidate alignment based on our mission and core values
  • Proficient in managing interview screening and logistics using Google Suite and Zoom, or other video conferencing platforms
  • Experience reviewing and entering data with close attention to detail
  • Hold a high school degree or GED
  • Demonstrate a deep belief in our mission, and commitment to race, equity, diversity, and inclusion (REDI), and root your work in our core values
  • Ability to prove eligibility to work legally in the U.S.

  • This is a part-time, non-exempt, and hourly position. The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $30.01 per hour.
