Description

Position Title: J Street U Regional Coordinator (formerly organizer)

Reports to: J Street U Director

Start Date: April 1st, 2024

Location: Remote, preferred location where J Street has offices (Boston)

Position

Are you interested in growing J Street’s campus program? Do you want to help engage and inspire students to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, an end to the occupation and principled, effective US diplomacy in the Middle East?

J Street is looking for the newest member of our J Street U team who will focus on growing J Street U, the student arm of the pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy movement.

The candidate hired for this position will have interest and experience in youth empowerment and a desire to strengthen the Jewish American progressive voice on Israel -- on campus, in the Jewish community, and within the arenas of American politics and policy.

The J Street U Regional Coordinator will be a member of the J Street U Team in one of our regional offices at a location to be determined. This position will oversee a region for J Street U. As regional coordinator, you will find and develop talented student leaders and help them build and expand J Street U chapters and presences on their campuses.

The J Street U Regional Coordinator engages students both in campus-based activism as well as in J Street’s work off campus - policy advocacy, political engagement and Jewish communal work. J Street U engages students in in-district meetings with members of Congress, PAC events for JStreetPAC endorsees, partnering with local clergy and much more.

The ideal candidate will have qualities that lend themselves to successful student engagement and organizing: strong instincts for campus politics and chapter growth, a knowledge of student leadership and creativity in developing tactics to advance Israeli-Palestinian peace.

The candidate will be passionate about opposing the occupation and promoting Jewish and democratic values. They will be interested in how student activism can help drive change and progress within the Jewish community and American politics.

  • Coordinate and run trainings and strategy sessions for students on student engagement and political organizing.
  • Work with the rest of the J Street U staff to plan national strategy and student-focused events.
  • Execute administrative and other tasks as necessary.
  • Build relationships with other organizational partners on campuses.
