Job Summary

Our Workforce Development (WD) team provides career-connected services for our adult learners. Our Student Support Program (SSP) addresses social and economic barriers that impact learner persistence and success. Both teams work collaboratively to provide support for academic, professional and personal goal attainment. As a key member of the WD team, the Workforce Student Support Coordinator will report to the WD Manager while also working closely with the SSP Director and SSP team. Fulltime staff typically work onsite up to 3-4 days per week and work 1-2 days remotely depending on program needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support program goals related to learner retention, academic outcomes, job placements, and education and training transitions.
  2. Maintain resource list, refer, and/or transition learners to appropriate resources (e.g. job training, employment options, CareerLink Centers, OVR, social services) and assist learners in making contact for transitions.
  3. Assess skills, experience, potential barriers, strengths, and career interests of learners to identify most appropriate career pathways, trainings, and job openings.
  4. Collaboratively assist learners with creating career maps, goal setting, developing goal aligned action plans, and tracking progress towards goal attainment.
  5. Help students with resumes, job applications, interviewing skills and soft skill development through one-on-one sessions and workshops.
  6. Document and track learner outcomes and interactions using program database.
  7. Provide case management support primarily through one-on-one meetings, to overcome barriers to attendance and success.  Assist with referrals to access support services as needed.
  8. Participate in our organization's annual events and support other organizational initiatives as assigned.
