Description

The Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (BLSYW), an affiliate of the Student Leadership Network,  is a unique all-girls, college-preparatory, public charter school. Since 2009, we have been dedicated to serving young women residing in Baltimore. Our approach combines academics, social-emotional learning, and a commitment to knowing each student by name and need. This

fosters a strong sense of self, sisterhood, and compassion in our students and equips them with the skills to make data-informed decisions that lead to positive outcomes.

Focused on college readiness and completion, our graduates are accepted to accredited colleges and universities nationwide. BLSYW's STEAM-centered program emphasizes leadership and academic excellence and prepares young women for success in fields where they have been historically underrepresented. BLSYW (pronounced “bliss”) girls cultivate the knowledge base and capacity for problem-solving that will allow them to walk boldly and critically engage the world in which they will lead.

Not unlike their peers across the city and country, BLSYW girls demonstrate strength and resilience that belie the sometimes difficult circumstances of their lives and this moment in history. To prevent these experiences from diminishing the girls’ self-esteem and obstructing the path to the realization of their full potential, BLSYW is undertaking a Whole Girl Wellness initiative designed to mitigate the effects of exposure to these conditions by providing even more robust emotional and mental support through qualified and caring mental health professionals.

Opportunity

This position represents an opportunity to create and implement a ground-breaking program that leverages our unwavering, strategic commitments to students' mental and emotional health and

our positive community reputation. You will work with our talented and invested board, supportive and empowering CEO, senior leadership team, and staff, and will be programmatically supported by significant financial resources, ongoing, productive partnerships, and an “anything is possible” approach to envision and create an innovative school, and ultimately field-wide, a model for academic rigor, highly engaging school culture with culturally affirming mental health and wellness initiatives that meet the needs of Baltimore City girls. The Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women is looking to welcome a committed and effective School Principal who will serve as an instructional leader, lead this important initiative, drive cohesion across programs and teams, and take their place in the community among our highly qualified middle and high school educators.
