About the Position:

The Middle School Academic technology Coordinator, in conjunction with the Chief Technology Officer, is responsible for ensuring that all students, families, and teachers in the Middle School are able to effectively access and implement instructional technology. The Academic Technology Coordinator will support the development of educational technology strategy, lead learning opportunities for the Middle School, support the Information Services team with grading reporting, and manage software accounts for the Middle School. Responsibilities of the Academic Technology Coordinator include:


  • Support the development of a vision for the role of technology in the classroom
  • Support the evaluation, selection, and management of or various technology systems, including but not limited to: Clever, Google Classroom, Jumprope, Hapara, Nearpod, Remind, and Zoom
  • Lead campus level technology training on the use of various technology systems at the start of the school year, and provide specific ongoing technology training for staff.
  • Support teachers one-on-one with their technology needs, ensuring that teachers get more support than just training at the beginning of year.
  • Create educational technology guides and materials prepared for distribution to instructional staff
  • Support and coordinate with the Instructional Coach to ensure our technology systems, implementation, and training align with the vision for professional growth designed by the coaching team, including monthly training for our new teacher collaborative. 
  • Support the IT department as needed to roll out technology hardware to Middle School students and staff
  • Support the Information Services department in articulating Middle School needs, and works to make those needs a reality in various rostering systems.
  • Support the Information Services department in troubleshooting simple support requests with our gradebook and Student Information System, and in preparing quarterly reports.
  • Coordinate with the Assessments team to support and monitor our implementation of assessments for the Middle School.
  • Coordinate with the Family engagement team to develop family tech training opportunities and other events
  • Support help requests via our universal help ticketing system.


Capital City seeks to employ experienced, credentialed teachers. Ideal candidates have a Master’s degree and 3+ years of full-time teaching experience.


Minimum required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and at least one of the following:

  • A major in education or field of instruction or equivalent 30 semester hours of credit
  • District of Columbia teaching license in field of instruction
  • Two years of verifiable teaching experience as a teacher of record
  • One year as a support teacher at Capital City and enrollment in a teacher education or certification program


Candidates must also have:

  • 1-3 years of experience designing, using, or implementing education technology for a district, or classroom.
  • 1-3 years of PK-12 teaching experience
  • Commitment to Capital City PCS mission and core values
  • Demonstrated strength in balancing vision and implementation
  • Meticulous organization, time management, and attention to detail


In addition to the above requirements, teachers must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.
