Description

JMG seeks a Senior Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations. JMG was established by the Maine State Legislature in 1993 and is the largest statewide education nonprofit in Maine. JMG partners with Maine's public middle and high schools, community colleges, and our university system to help students achieve their goals.

We strengthen Maine's workforce and economy by providing students with the guidance, skills, and opportunities to succeed in their careers. JMG serves more than 12,000 students a year in communities throughout Maine’s 16 counties.

Position Overview:

As the Senior Director of Foundation and Corporate and Relations at JMG, this role is central to leading the strategic planning and execution of corporate and foundation relationships in collaboration with the Vice President of Innovation and Development. This position is instrumental in driving JMG’s financial growth and sustainability, requiring a high level of expertise in grant and proposal writing, fundraising, strategic planning, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities:

1.      Joint Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the VP of Innovation and Development to lead the strategic planning process for corporate and foundation relations. This includes setting goals, identifying opportunities, and devising strategies for long-term partnerships and funding.

2.      Advanced Grant Management: Oversee the grant-seeking and management process, encompassing identification of opportunities, writing detailed proposals, and ensuring adherence to grant requirements. Monitor and report on grant performance and impact.

3.      Corporate Partnership Development and Relations: Develop and maintain high-level corporate relationships, leveraging these connections to secure significant support and engagement for JMG.

4.      Fundraising Strategy and Execution: In tandem with the VP, develop and implement a broad-based fundraising strategy, focusing on corporate and foundation giving, and spearhead major fundraising initiatives.

5.      Leadership and Organizational Contribution: As a senior leader at JMG, contribute to organizational strategy and foster cross-departmental collaboration. Champion a culture of excellence and innovation, serving as a mentor and resource in areas of fundraising and partnership building and supporting overall staff development.

6.      Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other senior leaders to align the corporate and foundation relations strategy with JMG’s overall mission and objectives.

7.      Impact Analysis and Reporting: Lead the development of impact reports and communications that demonstrate the effectiveness of JMG’s programs to corporate and foundation partners.

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in corporate relations, fundraising, and grant management, with a substantial track record in a leadership role.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain high-level relationships with corporate and foundation leaders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with the Maine business and philanthropic landscape is highly desirable.

Working Conditions

This is a hybrid position based out of the JMG Central Office in Augusta, Maine, with the flexibility to work remotely as determined by work priorities, travel, and best practices for effectiveness. Travel, both statewide and national, may be required.

This position starts with 15 days of vacation time, 15 days of sick time, plus one additional week of Covid time if needed. This role will also have an additional vacation week in December and a vacation week in July each year.
