Teacher (Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, Special Education and Special Subjects)

Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy is hiring for teachers for early childhood, elementary, middle school, special education and special subject instruction. Responsibilities:

Instructional Design and Delivery •Articulating curricular standards aligned with District and Common Core Standards. •Designing and frequently administering rigorous, standards-based assessments. •Utilizing data to drive instruction and influence optimal student achievement. •Designing and implementing project-based learning imbedded in authentic instruction.

Partnering with Students and Families •Understanding the unique situations that influence urban students. •Ensuring quality parental contact in order to involve parents and responding promptly to their requests and concerns. •Becoming a member of the school community through involvement in after-school and weekend events.

Building a Culture of Excellence •Communicating and operating within the school approved expectation of performance. •Assuming extracurricular responsibilities as negotiated. •Operating within the team environment established by the school administration.

Qualifications and Characteristics: •Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. •Bilingual (Spanish) applicants a major plus. •Achievement of NCLB “Highly Qualified” Status. (Praxis Exam) •Openness to feedback and the ability to provide quality advice. •Successful completion of Reading and Mathematics Methods coursework. Minimum three years experience as classroom teacher.
