With our 1,700+ members, we coordinate advocacy with nonprofit leaders to advance equity and public policy that supports vibrant community organizations and civil society. Maryland Nonprofits capacity-building services include the state’s largest nonprofit consulting, training, an annual conference, and accreditation through the Standards for Excellence program. We are the home of the Maryland Association of Resources for Families and Youth (MARFY), Maryland Latinos Unidos (MLU) and the Charge Up Collaborative. Maryland Nonprofits is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, non-partisan organization with a mission to strengthen organizations and networks for greater quality of life and equity.

Position Summary

Maryland Nonprofits seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Communications and Marketing Coordinator to support strategic marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate to manage various communication channels, including social media, website content, blogs, and email campaigns, while fostering relationships with members and marketing partners and enhancing brand visibility. This role requires creativity, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset to drive engagement and promote the organization's mission effectively.

The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will also support marketing efforts for Maryland Nonprofits’ integrated programs: Maryland Latinos Unidos, the Standards for Excellence Institute, and the Maryland Association of Resources for Families and Youth (MARFY). Maryland Nonprofits is a hybrid workplace, and the Communications and Marketing Coordinator will be required to work in-person in our Baltimore City office at least twice a week. Responsibilities also include staffing in-person and virtual learning and networking events to provide logistical support and social media/marketing coverage.

Position Description

Content Creation and Management:

  • With the Marketing Department team, develop and execute content strategies for social media, webpages, e-blasts, press releases, e-newsletters, and blog posts.
  • Write original content for various platforms, and generate content from sources like educational resources, content expert interviews, and events.
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all communication platforms.
  • Plan and adhere to content and editorial calendars for e-blasts, social media posts, blogs, etc.

Digital Marketing:

  • With the Marketing Department team, manage social media accounts, websites, blogs, and online member communities.
  • Create and implement email campaigns, including segmentation strategies, execution, and analysis.
  • Utilize CRM to pull segmented lists for targeted marketing efforts.

Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with members, partners, media contacts, and potential collaborators.
  • Interact with social media followers across social media channels, and inside online member community to increase followers and engagement.

Analytics, Reporting, and Archiving:

  • Monitor and track website, email, and social media engagement metrics.
  • Support Director in preparing reports for the Board of Directors and funders.
  • Track and archive media coverage and customer testimonials.

Event Marketing and Support:

  • With the Marketing Department and Events Team, market and prepare materials for special projects and events.
  • Serve as support staff for in-person and virtual events, providing technical assistance and capturing content for social media, blogs, and the website.
  • Track sponsorships and ensure sponsor benefits are received for the Maryland.
  • Nonprofits Annual Conference and other sponsored events.

Advocacy Communications:

  • Collaborate with Advocacy Team to strategize for and create email communications, social media posts, and action alerts about key policy priorities and events.

Additional Professional Staff Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in cross-functional teams and contribute to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Manage Marketing Department interns.
  • Actively participate in organization-wide efforts, including staff meetings, convenings, and special events.
  • Such additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications or related field.
  • Two to three years of experience in communications, ideally within a nonprofit or membership association.
  • Experience managing websites, social media platforms, and data analytics tools, focusing on crafting compelling materials for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent computer skills, including database experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in content management, project planning, and written copy.
  • Ability to effectively work in teams, manage multiple projects, and cultivate positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Proactive attitude towards maintaining consistency and meeting deadlines, with effective collaboration skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to multitask, be flexible, and prioritize responsibilities strategically.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, hybrid environment.
