Position

The Manager, Operations and Technology is a full-time, exempt position responsible for office services, supporting staff with technology needs, and a variety of related activities including project management, inventory management, software training, and technical support.

The Manager, Operations and Technology will work with all members of staff which consists of approximately 45 employees located across the continental United States. This role reports to the Director, Operations and Technology and will be assigned special projects as necessary.

Power to Decide is a fully remote organization with a physical office in the DC Metro Area. The preferred location for this position is within reasonable travelling distance to the DC office, as office presence is typically required on a bi-weekly basis. Periodically, additional events may require office presence.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities within the Manager, Operations and Technology role include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the physical office such as: general office maintenance, ordering and stocking supplies, completing software upgrades to technology devices, and coordination of mail and shipment processes.
  • Logging and depositing incoming checks.
  • Supporting with onboarding and offboarding for staff, fellows, and interns.
  • Providing positive, professional customer support for IT requests including troubleshooting, ensuring a timely resolution or escalation to the Director, and timely communication on progress or completion.
  • Training employees in software, hardware, and new technologies.      
  • Research and evaluation of emerging technologies, hardware, and software.
  • Tracking and maintenance of hardware and software inventory.
  • Manage shared calendars, event spaces, and meeting notifications.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant work experience, or 6+ years of relevant work experience without a degree, required.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Experience with a wide range of office and personal peripheral devices including: video conferencing systems, scanners, copiers, tablets, printers, phones, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats, and quickly respond to emerging issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to lift approximately 30 lbs. is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work autonomously and perform in a team environment.
  • Prior experience with Office365 Admin Portal, Exchange, Active Directory, SharePoint, Google products, Monday.com, and Zoom highly desirable.
  • Prior experience overseeing inventories and replenishing items as needed.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, with a keen ability to simplify explanation of complex technical issues.
  • Ability to approach new challenges creatively, while maintaining data integrity and compliance requirements.
  • Comfort in holding group training sessions for users.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace.
  • Working knowledge of Asana, Monday.com, or other project management software platforms.
  • Be an effective team player, demonstrating accountability, collaboration, time management, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Experience training learners with various experience and comfort.
  • Experience demonstrating and promoting ethical business and technology practices.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service.

The Manager, Technology and Operations is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is based on market factors and individual experience and abilities. The salary range for this position is $62,000 to $70,100.
