Description

We are a nonprofit professional association. Our ideal candidate is an expert in digital marketing, loves independence but works well as part of a team, thrives in a remote-work environment, and has a record of successfully managing projects and delivering results. The Marketing Manager will manage an ongoing portfolio of projects related to digital marketing, social media, and the organization’s website. The Marketing Manager position is fully remote but applicants must live in California.

Responsibilities 

Digital Marketing and Social Media

  • Create and execute all digital marketing, including social media, and display advertising campaigns to promote association and events with goals of increasing event attendance, membership, and online video viewership 
  • Create and execute all social media posts, share partner posts as appropriate, and build brand presence and awareness in legal and business communities; increase audience engagement
  • Create and execute email advertising through Constant Contact (except those for individual CLE programs, which are handled by the Events team) including trending CLEs, CLE store, BHBA OnDemand, replays, sponsored emails, and sponsor deliverables
  • Create marketing packages for special events and CLE series: email advertisements, registration pages, invitations, sponsor acknowledgements, etc. 
  • Perform community management on social platforms with particular focus on LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Create basic graphics through Canva for social media posts, digital ads, e-flyers, etc.; supervise contract graphic designer as needed 
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals/budget 
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights 

Website 

  • Manage organization’s website content through WordPress, including The Modern Lawyer (digital publication), Jobs Board, Legal Expertise Hub (Directory), and other assets
  • Optimize website for SEO, digital advertising units, and overall user experience
  • Solicit content (via email and social campaigns) from members for The Modern Lawyer, Jobs Board, Legal Expertise Hub, and other website assets
  • Collaborate with team to optimize user experience on website 

External Relations

  • Maintain existing media contacts list for media release distribution
  • Collaborate with team on drafting and issuing media releases 
  • Collaborate with team on earned media campaigns
  • Ensure sponsors receive all contracted benefits
  • Monitor industry outlets to help identify potential new partners and sponsors

Other duties as assigned, including serving as backup staffer on events marketing depending on Events team workload.

Requirements 

  • 4+ years of professional experience, including with digital marketing, social media, and/or external relations
  • Working knowledge of Canva, Salesforce, Trello, Constant Contact, WordPress, or experience with similar apps and aptitude for learning new ones quickly
  • Demonstrable expertise in digital marketing including sufficient subject matter expertise to work without daily supervision/direction
  • Experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, email, social media, and/or display advertising campaigns 
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing Facebook Ads and Google AdWords campaigns or willingness to take self-directed training immediately upon hiring
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Enthusiasm for staying current with latest trends and best practices in digital marketing
  • Ability to succeed with limited supervision and exercise judgment about issues that need to be escalated 

Position reports to Operations Director and currently has no direct reports, works regularly with Executive Director and Events team, and will interact with all staff. Equal opportunity employer.
