About Scholar Fund
Scholar Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization connecting community needs to opportunities and resources. Primarily, we build technology to remove barriers to higher education and direct cash assistance. We have helped students win over $90 million in scholarships through free application essay review and have administered over $220 million in COVID-19 relief funds and we’re working to power the next billion dollars in benefit programs. Though not limited to any subset of individuals, our work frequently serves undocumented immigrants, Black and other people of color, and low-income families, among others.
We pride ourselves on being a team of exceptional individuals—savvy, conscientious, and wide-eyed—who tackle imposing challenges by thinking critically and creatively about traditional solutions, novel tools, and intimate knowledge of the problem space. We are approximately 40 strong, several four-legged, and a handful of small human “coworkers” whose lack of productivity is made up for by their enthusiasm. We are based primarily out of Seattle, WA, and have been a fully remote team from day one.
Education Strategy Work at Scholar Fund
Scholar Fund is dedicated to increasing post-secondary enrollment by implementing a comprehensive approach that encompasses various aspects. Central to our strategy is the establishment and cultivation of strong relationships with regional staff, district staff, school staff, and community-based partners. By fostering these connections, we can facilitate protocol-driven planning through a train-the-trainer approach with regional and district leads or a professional learning network with school teams from comprehensive high schools that can lead to systemic changes in Washington and across the United States. Additionally, we provide learning opportunities to different community-based organizations to increase their college-going knowledge, so they can better support students in their communities.
Scholarship Junkies
College should be free, and we want you to help us help as many students as possible make this a reality. Scholarship Junkies is a program within Scholar Fund managed by the Education Strategy Team. At Scholarship Junkies, we use technology to ensure accessibility through connecting students to the resources they need to reach their educational goals. We do this through our scholarship bank that connects students to thousands of scholarships worth millions of dollars, through monthly newsletters, and monthly virtual workshops throughout the school year breaking down educational knowledge materials. Some of the topics include, but are not limited to: All about FAFSA & WASFA, apprenticeships, scholarships, applications, and panels of professionals in different sectors. We are also in the process of bringing back our scholarship essay review program, to continue to support students through the process of earning scholarships and attending college for free.
