Description

Educators Rising, a division of PDK International a 501 (c) 3 Education Non-Profit

We need strong leaders to guide our students today into teaching and education if we have any hope for our schools and communities to continue to strengthen in the future. At PDK International and Educators Rising, we believe we can lead from any seat. To this end, we are looking for a dynamic and devoted education leader to guide Educators Rising’s Grow Your Own initiative in the state of Massachusetts as it continues to develop and grow its programming.

The Position

This position is remote, but the candidate must reside in Massachusetts.

This position will support Educators Rising Massachusetts and report to the Educators Rising Director of Membership at the PDK national office to increase membership through outreach and engagement and provide local programming opportunities in the state. Programming will include offering leadership opportunities for student members and hosting regional and/or state conferences featuring professional development, networking, and competitive events.

This position will also report to the Educators Rising Programs Department at the PDK national office to guide the facilitation of programming and curriculum implementation in Massachusetts. While this position is primarily remote, ideal candidates are local to the Massachusetts area and can travel throughout the state.

This is an exciting time for PDK’s Educators Rising, with growth in interest from districts and states on our “grow your own” educator pathway initiatives, our commitment to diversity in education, and our efforts to inspire middle school, high school, and collegiate preservice candidates into education careers. We need someone who can help us to scale the program while also being a hands-on team member getting in the weeds and getting the work done and making a difference in the local community as well as providing a meaningful career for students who may find this their calling.

Primary Duties

  • Convene at least one official state conference which offers official Educators Rising competitive events, and networking and professional learning opportunities.
  • Liaise with the state education agency to support recognition of Educators Rising as a CTSO that is integral to teacher preparation-related CTE instructional programs, and that relevant activities of Educators Rising state chapters are eligible to be supported with state-allocated funds from the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act.
  • Prepare and facilitate professional learning for teacher leaders through trainings, professional learning communities, and consultative sessions as teachers implement the Educators Rising standards through curriculum, competitions, and programming to support students in their journey to become meaningful and effective educators in their communities.
  • Customize materials and content for professional learning based on the context of local and state policy.
  • Support the expansion of partnerships with schools and districts to establish Educators Rising chapters that introduce high school students to the teaching profession.
  • Support and expand existing partnerships between high schools and local institutes of higher education to open opportunities for dual credit and/or enrollment, as well as to complete the Grow Your Own cycle by encouraging districts to hire former Educators Rising students as new teachers.
  • Travel across the state to districts and schools to conduct site visits and support professional learning.
  • Track and report data to PDK’s National Office regarding school sites that are actively using the  Educators Rising Curriculum, including and student enrollment and demographic data, as well as pertinent details of individual courses, including opportunities for dual credit and/or enrollment.
  • Track and report membership data and furnish to Educators Rising a completed annual report, briefly describing the activities it conducted during the year to further Educators Rising’s Mission.
  • Maintain regular communications with all Educators Rising teacher leaders in your state to provide program updates, professional learning opportunities, ideas for elevating student voice, opportunities for networking or dialogue, and information from the national office.
  • Coordinate expansion of partnerships with schools and districts to establish Educators Rising chapters that introduce high school students to the teaching profession.
  • Facilitate the selection of Educators Rising state student leaders and collaborate with student leaders throughout the year to promote the teaching profession and elevate the quality of the program.
  • Meet and report on deliverables outlined in respective grant(s) designated for the implementation of Educators Rising programming.
  • Attend virtual monthly meetings of state coordinators.
  • Attend the annual Educators Rising Massachusetts State Conference and National Conference as a state representative.
  • Additional duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate would reside in Massachusetts.
  • Has the ability to develop relations distinct leaders and/or local funders
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, compassion, and self-awareness combined with strength of conviction, and “steel” in the face of adversity. Oh, and humor too.
  • Bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred OR commensurate work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in K12 education; experience with CTE is preferred.
  • Experience with the consultative communication process
  • A demonstrated ability to mediate discussions by recognizing underlying hesitations and overcoming concerns.
  • Proven track record of excelling in a fast-paced work environment and managing time effectively.
  • Problem-solver with the ability to execute but not be limited to linear thinking and a willingness to lead and innovate.
  • Experience with event planning is a plus.
  • Exceptional communicator – verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive)
