Are you passionate about shaping the future of policing? Do you thrive on distilling complex information into compelling narratives that drive change? If so, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) invites you to join our team as we work to improve policing nationwide.

At PERF, we're not just a think tank - we're catalysts for progress. Our thoughtful work on critical issues in policing drive decision-making at all levels of government and spark public discourse. Now, we're seeking an experienced Executive Editor to translate our work into reports that will have broad engagement and spark action in the field.

Key Requirements:

  • Communications Mastery: Articulate complex concepts with clarity and precision.
  • Analytical Prowess: Think strategically to distill key messages and insights from data and research.
  • Seasoned Expertise: With a minimum of ten years of experience in writing and editing, including work on a wide array of content, from long-form reports to op-eds, social posts, and everything in between.
  • Passion for Impact: Experience in policing or criminal justice is essential, along with a commitment to effecting positive change in public safety.
  • Attention to Detail: A sharp eye for detail is essential to help ensure our communications are not just impactful, but impeccably polished.
  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or communications, lays the foundation for your exceptional editorial skills.

Our Team and Compensation:

At PERF the preference is for in-person work at our Washington, D.C. office. Based on the position, hybrid and/or remote options are negotiable.
