About Aim High

For 39 years, Aim High has provided a multi-year summer enrichment program that empowers Northern California middle schoolers from underserved neighborhoods to love learning and pursue their education. Since 1986, we have prepared more than 15,000 middle school students for academic and career success. In Summer 2022, our program served more than 1,600 students at 16 sites in high need communities across the Bay Area and Tahoe Truckee regions. The Opportunity

Aim High is seeking an Associate Grant Writer to join its Development team. Reporting to the Vice President of Development and working in close partnership with the external fundraising and development operations teams, this position will play a key role in securing revenue during a critical period of transformation at Aim High. This role will deliver compelling, high-quality grant proposals and reports that ensure Aim High is able to raise funds from a diverse mix of corporations, foundations, individuals and government sources. Produce compelling proposals, grants, and reports 

  • Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage compelling and timely proposals for foundations, corporations, individuals, and government entities. 
  • Collaborate across the organization to gather and synthesize the information necessary to report a compelling set of outcomes to funders.
  • Partner with external fundraisers to understand funding requirements and expectations. 
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling content for all proposals, reports, and letters of inquiry.
  • Develop and prepare budgets and supporting materials for proposals and applications.
  • Lead the organization’s government grant submission process.


Project manage grant-related activities

  • Manage an existing grant and proposal intake system through Salesforce, with emphasis on prioritizing and tracking submissions. 
  • Work with program leaders to track data and outcomes related to grant submissions
  • Refresh existing grant toolkits, including updating boilerplate language and attachment files.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous grant writing experience of at least 2 years required with a demonstrable track record of successful submissions-to-awards. Experience working with foundations, corporations, and government sources of support is a plus.
  • Strong and persuasive writing skills.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team. Efficient and collaborative team player who knows how to work with others to move work forward.
  • Strong project manager who is organized, able to keep track of multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
  • Passion for Aim High’s mission. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Experience using Salesforce is a plus.

  • Reports to: VP of Development
  • Job Location: Hybrid (Greater San Francisco Bay Area) is ideal; Fully remote will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
  • Compensation range of $60K-80K commensurate with experience and aligned to market data.
