Founded in 1990, Coro Allegro is proud to be Boston's award-winning LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus. Under the leadership of Artistic Director David Hodgkins, Coro Allegro is known for adventurous programming, highly acclaimed performances, commissions of new choral works, and recordings of works by an inclusive range of classical and contemporary composers.

The Executive Director position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to work with a chorus of the highest artistic quality, and to promote a message of  affirmation at a critical moment for LGBTQ+ rights.

Key duties include management of day-to-day operations of the organization (primarily administrative with financial oversight), concert marketing and production, ambassadorship and outreach to outside organizations, and support for advancement and stewardship work. The position reports to the Board of Directors and works closely with the bookkeeper, concert production manager and the Artistic Director.

Although hours are flexible, they must include all dress rehearsals, performances and events. Coro Allegro usually offers three performances per season (typically in November, March, and May) on Sunday afternoons, with dress rehearsals the preceding Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Other events include fundraising events, events for donors, non-subscription series concerts by invitation, etc.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience managing and planning budgets
