Job description:
The Associate Director of City Policy will play a crucial role in supporting public
policy initiatives focused on addressing homelessness in Chicago. This position
involves working closely with social service providers, managing policy
research and data analyses, and supervising the City Policy Manager. The
Associate Director will contribute to the development and execution of policy
strategies to end homelessness and will work to
advance racial equity in all areas of their work.
About CCH:
Chicago Coalition for the Homeless is a 43-year-old
systemic advocacy organization. CCH develops campaigns and initiatives to
address the causes of homelessness - lack of affordable housing, lack of access
to health care and services and lack of jobs paying a living wage. We place
much emphasis on organizing and developing leaders who have experienced
homelessness to become spokespersons and leaders of our various initiatives.

and prejudices are embedded in the fabric of society, and thus, also permeate

Job responsibilities:
· Advocacy: Engage and activate social service providers in
advocacy efforts and policy development. Understand the homelessness system and
support advocacy around reforms.
· Data analysis: Analyze
data and provide evidence-based recommendations for policy development and
implementation, and supervise data projects, including the annual Homeless
Estimates.
· Policy Research: Conduct in-depth research on homelessness-related issues, legislative
trends, and best practices.
· Supervision: Mentor and supervise
another staff person, who will also be working on advocacy and data analysis, ensuring
alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
· Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members and external partners to achieve
policy goals. Work in
collaboration with all CCH departments and external partners. CCH believes
strongly in interdepartmental collaboration and expects all staff to work in
close partnership with the other departments at the organization.
· Writing reports: Prepare reports and presentations on policy research and analysis.
Qualifications/skills:
· Experience in advocacy related to homelessness, housing, and/or poverty issues.
· Experience in policy research, analysis, and advocacy.
· Experience staffing a strategic campaign or other public policy initiative.
· Demonstrated experience in quantitative data analytics and report-writing.
· Demonstrated strong writing skills.
· Experience working with community organizing and a desire to work in a grassroots
leader-centered organization.
· Strong organizational and project management skills.
· Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
· Demonstrated commitment to racial equity.
· Preferred: Experience with the statistical programming tool R or R Studio.
Salary range: $70,705-$73,705, (salary above the base salary is available if the candidate meets one or more of the following criteria – demonstrated second language proficiency ($1,000), lived experience of homelessness ($1,000), certification in racial equity work ($1,000).
