SUMMARY

UnidosUS Program Manager, Health is an experienced and accomplished manager with a deep affinity for the organization’s mission, vision, values, and a strong commitment to supporting the health and well-being of Latinos and centered in advancing health equity. Success in this position requires organization, confidence, vision, thoughtful strategic planning, interpersonal communication skills, and skill in curriculum, training, and program development and management.

The manager works as a critical team member with both specialists, data staff, and senior management and leadership to execute the successful implementation of program activities and timely achievement of deliverables and to implement public and population health strategies. This position also collaborates closely across the Health and other components at UnidosUS to identify process improvements and best practices. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Health. 

This position is hybrid and based Washington, DC, Texas, Florida, Arizona, or California. 

Salary: $74,234-$80,476 (salary differentials may apply outside of the Washington DC area.)

Essential Functions

Program Development and Implementation

  • Develop health education and promotion curriculum tool kits, materials, and training modules that are culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate.
  • Identify and coordinate strategic support to Affiliate partners and subgrantees in program development, data collection, monitoring and evaluation, and program expansion and replication.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to program sites and foster relationships with key contacts.
  • Develop, plan, and deliver effective training sessions to assist UNIDOS US Affiliates in launching and successfully implementing health programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure program deliverables are met; milestones and timelines are adhered to; finances are monitored; and programs comply with good practice and UnidosUS terms and conditions. 
  • Identify opportunities to expand programs and initiatives with diverse funders and partners in collaboration with Senior Program manager, directors, and leadership.
  • Work in partnership with UnidosUS staff, Affiliates/program sites/sub-grantees, and other collaborative partners to identify and design best practices and approaches to strengthen Health component efforts.
  • Establish and manage partnerships with multiple internal and external entities, teams to improve health equity and advance health outcomes and impact.
  • Design and spread national, state, and regional initiatives that increase the capacity of community-based organizations to implement public health programs for diverse populations.
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive concept notes and grant proposals, utilizing current program data and analyzing external data sources.
  • Assist senior team members and consultants in developing a strategic plan for the Health Component, aligning with organizational goals and objectives, providing valuable programmatic insights and recommendations based on market research and industry trends.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with funders and external partners, attending networking events, conferences, and meetings to stay informed about issue-topic trends and opportunities.

Program Planning and Administration

  • Serve as the primary liaison and principal point of contact for the program with support from Program Specialists and monitor program-specific deliverables.
  • Responsible for tracking deadlines for and monitoring the status of financial reporting requirements with assistance from senior team members.
  • Monitor, prepare, and submit program and funder reports that indicate progress and impact with guidance from program director.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to project coordinators, administrative assistants, interns, and/or technical consultants.
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop and release Request for Proposals (RFPs) and project models that align with project goals.
  • Review sub-grantee/affiliate/program site work plans, budgets, scopes of work, and key performance indicators to ensure adherence with program goals and addressing technical assistance needs in these areas.
  • Ensure Affiliate/sub-grantee/program site compliance with grant agreements, contractual obligations, and regulatory standards, providing guidance and support as needed.

Data Management and Evaluation

  • Support and implement standardized data collection systems to be used by program sites in collaboration with data manager.
  • Provide guidance and data collection support to Affiliates to strengthen program model deliverables and outcomes, including compliance with memoranda of understanding/contracts and program objectives.
  • Monitor program implementation and collect accountability and evaluation reports from participating sites.
  • Work with UNIDOS US staff, program Affiliates, external evaluators, and consultants to conduct a formal program evaluation of select health programs.
  • Support the overall data and fiscal management of lead health projects and/or initiatives, as assigned.
  • Provides direct support and/or backstops the development and updating of contracts with sub grantees and consultants, logistical coordination of project-related activities and events, and maintaining relevant project-related files.
  • Contribute to the collection of lessons learned within both the work with affiliates and the health component, includingdata capture, analysis, interpretation, and application for other programs within the Health Component.
  • Support in creating and improving processes and systems as it relates to program oversight and grant management.

Public Information and Communications

  • Represent UnidosUS and the Health team in professional settings and via media opportunities.
  • Manage the editing process of Health curricula and promotion materials.
  • Prepare written internal and external reports, updates, materials, and other necessary communications and campaigns.
  • Work with the UNIDOS US media and information technology support staff to create and manage information on the UNIDOS US website and social media outlets.
  • Support dissemination of evidence-based and culturally relevant programs information, announcements, digital materials, and tools.
  • Advocate for and on behalf of underserved Latino communities.

General

  • Seek opportunities for Affiliate peer support and engagement efforts.
  • Support and participate in cross-component UNIDOS US collaborations, specifically with other program, policy, Affiliate member service, communications, and leadership.
  • Collaborate with other teams, program managers, directors, and senior leadership to support organizational goals, share expertise, and contribute to collective problem-solving efforts.
  • Communicate and collaborate with UNIDOS US staff and relevant staff in headquarters and field offices.
  • Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and in a variety of situations.

Qualifications & Requirements 

Education and Experience

  • A degree in Public Health or at least five years equivalent experience in public health, program implementation or relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in public health, social services, or food security/nutrition programming required.
  • Demonstrated experience in local, state, and/or national public and population health and health care delivery systems and policies, particularly with a Latino and other multicultural health perspective.
  • Expertise and practical experience in public health programming
  • Experience in food security, enrollment assistance or nutrition program preferred.
  • Experience working with relevant sectors, including community-based/nonprofits, research institutions, federal/state agencies, community health centers, and the corporate community.
  • Experience and skills in mentoring and supervision of personnel and to encourage excellence in performance.
  • Strong ability to develop work plans, set deadlines, work with minimal supervision, manage multiple projects and duties simultaneously, and prioritize among assignments.
  • Demonstrated management of multiple projects
  • Certifications in Public Health
  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization a plus.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite more specifically, Office 365.
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the Latino community.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in food security, enrollment assistance or nutrition program.
  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization.
