Program Overview:

The Marketing & Communications Department promotes the work of the Settlement as a whole, and its programs individually, through marketing strategies that include online and print publications, social media and traditional media relations, digital communication including website and email, signage, and public events. The program's goals are to maintain the integrity of the organization's brand, promote its excellent reputation, recruit participants and donors to Henry Street, and communicate the organization's mission and central goals and beliefs to the general public and policymakers.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Associate, Digital Communications & Graphic Design, you will partner with administration and programs throughout the organization to promote Henry Street’s services and advocacy campaigns, recruit participants, contribute to fundraising and special events efforts, and community across the team. You will serve as the website overseer and chief designer of digital and print content and contribute to social media content ensuring consistent usage of brand guidelines across the agency. 

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with HTML and WordPress
  • Extensive experience with InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, PhotoShop, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as some experience with Adobe Premiere and Excel
  • Experience with email platforms such as MailChimp
  • Familiarity with digital fundraising platforms.
  • Professional graphic design experience, creating digital imagery as well as flyers, postcards, posters, and brochures
  • Proven experience with digital marketing of programs and events at the community/grassroots level
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to shoot and edit photographs and video 
  • Ability to take direction and work independently
  • A can-do positive attitude, flexibility and a sense of humor
  • Solutions oriented and highly organized
  • Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) proficiency a plus
  • Strong belief in and deep commitment to the mission of Henry Street Settlement and its community
  • Some evening and weekend work required

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Henry Street website, making frequent content and systems updates and developing appealing new pages as needed.
  • Collaborate on social media content
  • Create attractive emails for internal and external communication
  • Design digital and print imagery, flyers, brochures, invitations, posters, and postcards
  • Interview subjects and write stories about Henry Street events for web and print audiences
  • Manage Google Adwords and Analytics
  • Shoot and edit short videos and photographs
  • Edit and proofread materials
  • Build strong relationships with all departments to understand and execute marketing needs.
  • Represent the agency at special events
  • Occasional supervision of interns and outside designers
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Essential Physical Job Functions:

  • Ability to climb several flights of stairs to the office
  • Ability to travel among Henry Street sites in the Lower East Side is a must
