The ICCT seeks a highly motivated and committed full-time Freight Associate Researcher in our Beijing office. You will contribute to ICCT’s efforts to optimize the comprehensive transportation system and recommend green freight development policies for the “dual carbon” and air quality improvement targets. The candidate will focus on analyses to support strengthening China’s domestic policies to improve freight efficiency and promote intermodal transportation along with work advancing the zero-emission freight system.

 

You Will:

 

  • Provide technical support for or lead green freight and intermodal transportation projects, and communicate the status of transportation policies adopted by national and local governments.
  • Synthesize technical information into policy-relevant documents and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences, with a focus on China.
  • Review and summarize policies, databases, and scientific literature related to freight transportation and the supply chain.
  • Perform quantitative analysis on real-world supply chain optimization evaluation and freight activities.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including government officials, global delegates, non-governmental organizations, academics, and industry.
  • Support or lead outreach activities such as webinars, workshops, and WeChat posts.


You Have:

 

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation systems, transportation planning, civil engineering, environment, or related fields.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and technical research and writing skills are required.
  • Demonstrated skills in data collection, policy reviews, analytical tools, and presentation are necessary.
  • Applicable working or research experience in related areas (e.g., shipping structure adjustment, supply chain optimization, or intermodal/multimodal shipping strategy) is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese, along with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Superior proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with policymakers, NGOs, industries, and other stakeholders is a plus.

 

Our Benefits

 

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position based in ICCT’s Beijing office with a salary of ¥282,083 depending on skills and experience. We offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, paid vacation, hybrid/remote flexibilities, transportation subsidies, and other benefits.
