Manager of Teen Community and Engagement
The Shalom Hartman Institute of North America
Mission and Philosophy
The Shalom Hartman Institute is a leading center of Jewish thought and education, serving Israel and North America. Our mission is to strengthen Jewish peoplehood, identity and pluralism, to enhance the Jewish and Democratic character of Israel, and to ensure that Judaism is a compelling force for good in the 21st century.
Position
Hartman’s Teen Initiatives recruit, support, and mentor young Jewish learners (aged 15-18) in order to develop and inspire ongoing, thoughtful Jewish engagement and courageous Jewish leaders. Hartman’s Teen Initiatives also help high school students cultivate Jewish identities that take seriously their relationships with Jewish Peoplehood, Israel, and broader humanity while developing the tools to build an informed, meaningful, and bright Jewish future.
Hartman’s Teen Initiatives, including its signature program, the Hartman Teen Fellowship, provide opportunities for motivated, engaged, and curious Jewish teens from across North America to gather, both online and in person, as a community of learners during the academic year. Teens unpack questions that matter most to the Jewish people with guidance from the faculty of the Shalom Hartman Institute and with support from local Jewish communities. Teens learn to approach Jewish texts with nuance, engage questions with complexity, and apply Jewish wisdom to their lives with intention.
We are looking for a community-minded, detail-oriented, relationship-forward and motivated manager to join our team who will help recruit, support, and mentor Jewish young adults through their Jewish educational journey.
The Manager of Teen Community and Engagement will drive recruitment efforts for Hartman’s Teen Initiatives, foster meaningful mentoring relationships with approximately 300 teens, and manage the student experience within Hartman teen programs. The Manager will visit Jewish communities to represent the program and identify promising candidates, document and guide student participation, partner on the design of teen facing programs, and help teens process their learning.
