Salary:          Candidates can expect to be offered $58,800 as a new hire in the role.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Manager who will be responsible for planning and implementing CAIR’s social media strategy to increase CAIR’s brand presence with an initial focus on building community among our target audiences. 

Reporting to and working closely with the Deputy Executive Director, the Social Media Manager is a collaborator who will produce, review, and publish content on social media in accordance with CAIR’s established brand guidelines, measure results, and optimize campaigns based on data. 

This role is pivotal to engaging our community, raising awareness about our work and critical civil rights issues, and mobilizing support for our initiatives on social media platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about civil rights, skilled in social media strategy and content creation, and eager to make a meaningful impact.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy for all platforms, aligned with our organization's goals and messaging.

• Create, or oversee the creation of, compelling, engaging, informative, and timely content, including posts, graphics, videos, and stories, to highlight our initiatives, events, and successes on social media in alignment with CAIR’s brand and image.

• Capture photos and short videos to publish on social media platforms.

• Collaborate with the Senior Graphic Designer and Senior Multimedia Designer regarding the creation of use of video and graphics.

• Collaborate with various departments to translate team ideas and objectives into creative and engaging content.

• Collaborate with the communications and marketing teams to coordinate social media content with other outreach efforts.

• Engage with our community by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and respectful manner.

• Monitor social media trends and leverage these insights to increase our reach and engagement.

• Analyze and report on social media performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

• Stay informed about issues affecting Muslim communities in the U.S. and ensure our social media content reflects and supports their needs and rights.

• Ensure brand consistency across all social media platforms.

• Generate and maintain a monthly social media posting calendar.

• Perform any other duties as required.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Proven experience in managing social media platforms in a professional or advocacy-focused setting.

• At minimum, have an associate degree in marketing.

• Certificates in digital marketing and social media management are preferred. 

• Strong knowledge of all major social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter).

• Passion for building community on social media platforms.

• Strong understanding of social media trends, analytics, and best practices.

• Excellent written and visual communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues in a clear, compelling, and relatable manner.

• Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to generate new ideas to engage and grow our online community.

• Knowledge of or strong interest in civil rights issues, particularly those affecting Muslim communities in the U.S.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

• Must have great time management skills and the ability to find creative solutions.

• Must have proficiency with video and photo editing tools, digital media formats, and HTML.

• Must be flexible to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
