Description

The Society for American Archaeology (SAA), an organization headquartered in Washington, DC and representing approximately 7,000 members worldwide, seeks a Coordinator, Membership and Meetings who can join our small but might membership desk to support members with superb customer service.


The Society for American Archaeology is the preeminent organization for the study of archaeology of the Americas. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our membership team to provide clear, prompt, and friendly service to members and customers.

Read more about the benefits package. While some work needs to be done in the office, much of the job is remote, so there are very few commuting expenses. The office is four blocks from Foggy Bottom metro.

 

Position objectives    

  • Acts as the main point of contact for calls and emails. Works one on one with entire staff to learn the answers to basic frequent question and directs more elaborate enquiries to main contact.
  • Provides quality customer service and develops effective customer service strategies for member and non-member customer bases.
  • Collaborates with Senior Manager, Meetings and Membership in managing the membership database and outputs.
  • Teams with Associate, Member Engagement as a cross-trained partner to ensure smooth administrative operations and prompt assistance to members


Required skills

  • Friendly and clear customer service to members and subscribers
  • Become familiar with SAA products and services to help people efficiently and effectively
  • Great communications skills
  • Detailed oriented and able to enter and correct data with accuracy
  • Comfortable with member databases and able to produce data reports through the Association Management Software (iMIS)
  • Expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; comfortable with marketing software programs (e.g. Constant Contact), online survey tools (e.g. Survey Monkey), and online data forms (e.g. Google Forms.)
  • Able to lift 40 pounds and stand on feet for extended periods of time
  • Able to pick up mail two times per week in Washington DC office


Required background

  • BA / BS (archaeology or anthropology preferred)
  • 2-3 years office experience, working with customers by helping them on the phone and email
  • Fluent English speaker and writer, bonus points for Spanish
