Position is Part-Time, for approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility


Position Overview:

The NY Race Track Chaplaincy is  committed to providing our high school students, the vast majority of whom are first-generation immigrants,  with the tools necessary to navigate and plan for their post-graduation journey. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual for the part-time role of Grad Support Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate will work closely with high school students and their families, guiding them through the process of planning for their lives after graduation. This includes assistance with college selection, application processes, financial aid and scholarship applications, and exploring alternative pathways such as trade schools or military service.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with high school students and their families  to assess their goals, interests, and preferences for post-graduation plans.
  • Coordinate and partner with the local high school district and the student’s high school counselor. 
  • Provide guidance and support in the college selection process, assisting with applications, essays, and necessary documentation.
  • Aid in the completion of financial aid and scholarship applications, ensuring students are aware of available resources.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local college admissions departments to facilitate college tours, meetings, and information sessions for students.
  • Develop and implement outreach programs to engage and educate families on the post-graduation planning process.
  • Collaborate with local educational institutions, businesses, and organizations to create opportunities for students interested in trade schools or vocational training.
  • Assist students considering military service by providing information, resources, and support throughout the enlistment process.
  • Research and make students aware of summer program opportunities that align with their post-graduation aspirations. 
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages open communication and trust among students, families, school and organizational staff. .
  • The ability to provide bilingual support (Spanish/English) to ensure effective communication with students and their families is ideal but not required. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with high school students, especially those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of college application processes, financial aid systems, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive role model with high moral standards.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
