Description

Position Description:

Rising for Justice (RFJ) is a leader in training social justice advocates and representing low-income clients in matters critical to their well-being. We make justice a reality for vulnerable D.C. residents by providing free, high-quality legal representation with social work services to promote long-lasting positive outcomes for our clients.

Our mission is to leverage the collective forces of students and experienced advocates to achieve justice for all.

We seek a dynamic, experienced, and collaborative LICSW with a passion for working with individuals who face barriers to economic mobility and positive health outcomes because of their involvement in the justice and/or DC housing system.

The Supervising Social Worker works as part of interdisciplinary teams that support D.C. residents at risk of eviction, seek to have their criminal records sealed, and are respondents in civil protection orders and/or anti-stalking order cases.

The Supervising Social Worker is responsible for training MSW interns in assessment, clinical case management skills, and documentation while coaching them on working as part of a client-centered team with other non-clinical professionals. The supervisor facilitates individual and group clinical supervision and liaises with area social work program field instructors. Additionally, the role involves conducting regular performance evaluations, developing, and implementing student training programs, and staying updated on the latest social work practices and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly individual and group clinical supervision to MSW student(s).
  • Providing oversight and clinical supervision of social work services provided to clients in Rising for Justice programs by MSW interns.
  • Develop, design, and implement meaningful field education experiences, activities, and training for students to help them progress through the year.
  • Clearly communicate verbally and in writing how the CSWE competencies and the Social Work Code of Ethics enhance and frame the student experience.
  • Provide feedback to students regarding their progress in field education and when there are difficulties in field education.
  • Complete student evaluations and submit other documentation required by the social work field programs the student(s) belong to.
  • Collaborate with other social work and legal team members assigned to provide services to clients in other program areas.
  • At the discretion of the Director of Social Work, collaborate with members of other community organizations.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and/or support groups for clients utilizing services through Rising for Justice programs.
  • The Supervising Social Worker works independently with supervision and coaching from the Director of Social Work.
  • Provide crisis intervention, assessment, and short-term case management services to a minimum of 10 clients monthly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

The Supervising Social Worker must be a LICSW in the District of Columbia, have 2-5 years of experience as a clinical social worker, and at least one full year of experience providing direct clinical supervision to master’s level social work students. The Supervising Social Worker must have strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive delivery of services. In addition, the Supervising Social Worker must have a desire and the ability to educate students. The Supervising Social Worker must demonstrate a solid commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates who are bilingual and Spanish/English are encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time Hybrid position, with two days spent working remotely and three days spent working at the Rising for Justice office or court offices or within the Washington, DC community.

Work Environment: The successful applicant will consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. phone systems, copy machine and computer printer).
