Description

The Children’s Law Center (“CLC”) represents children in custody/visitation, guardianship, domestic violence and connected child protective cases in New York City Family Courts. Under the leadership of the Executive Director, the Senior Associate will proactively engage with stakeholders, including funders, other non-profits serving children and youth, foundations, clients and Board members. The Senior Associate will seek funding to support the implementation of the organizational mission and impact.

The Senior Associate will develop projects related to children’s well-being, developing strategies to assess outcomes, communicate impact, and develop funding proposals in collaboration with CLC leadership.


Major Purpose of Position: Working in a confidential capacity directly with the Executive Director and CLC leadership, the Senior Associate will be a proactive team-player who can identify and develop opportunities for increased support. The Senior Associate will be mission-driven and committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children.  


Job Requirements:

  • Identify, research and proactively seek funding opportunities through foundations, partnerships, government and individuals, and by organizing events.
  • Develop materials and communications to support stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist the Executive Director and the Board in developing strategies for increasing and diversifying funding.
  • Assist in developing, planning and executing strategic initiatives to support CLC’s mission.


Key Competencies and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and two or more years of successful experience in development, communication, or strategic planning with a non-profit or related organization.
  • Proven track record in foundation grant writing or individual fundraising and development in youth development, family services or related field.
  • Demonstrated and sophisticated user of software, technology, and online resources including advanced engagement through social networking sites (LinkedIn, Mailchimp, etc.,) and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise complete discretion when working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated interest in children’s development, domestic violence, family or criminal justice, access to justice, or related field.
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences orally and in writing.
  • Experience building collaboration between organizations and ability to work with stakeholders, including Executive Leadership and the Board, the Court and government partners.
  • Experience with developing logic models; qualitative and quantitative methods of tracking impact.
  • Other related duties as required.

Location: Hybrid.

This position will be in office three days per week and remote two days with some flexibility in hours and location. CLC’s main office is located in Brooklyn, NY.
