Capital City is looking for dedicated and talented Elementary Summer School Assistant Teachers.

This is a 4-week summer position, tentative dates are July 1st - July 26th with 1 planning day. 

Hours: 8:30am - 3:15pm for staff, 9:00am - 3:00pm for students


This position is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.


The responsibilities of Elementary Summer School Assistant Teachers include:

 

  • Supporting the classroom teacher with instruction. Instructional duties and roles will be discussed and mutually agreed upon by the Assistant Teacher and classroom teacher. Instructional duties may include: working with small groups of students, working individually with students, assessing student learning, and assisting with the planning and preparation of classroom lessons and activities.
  • Implementing the principles of Responsive Classroom management.
  • Supporting students with completing assignments/projects
  • Meeting with the classroom teacher to reflect on progress and gain feedback mid-way and at the end of summer.
  • Assuming lead teacher responsibilities when the classroom teacher is absent.


Capital City seeks to employ experienced, credentialed teachers. 


Minimum required qualifications: High School Diploma and the following:


  • Two+ years of experience working with students in a school-based setting
  • Associate’s Degree or two years of coursework (60 credits) towards a Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent communication skills and track record of collaboration 

 

In addition to the above requirements, teachers must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.
