Description

The Residential Clinician is responsible for providing leadership in ongoing development of the program, and for providing treatment and casework services to the clients of the VanAndel Summit program. They provide leadership and supervision of treatment planning, to lead group, individual and family therapy sessions, and to work with other treatment personnel in establishing a therapeutic milieu within the program. This Clinician provides treatment to clients living within a co-ed substance abuse recovery residential treatment program with adolescents ranging in age from 12-18 years old.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field, from an accredited institution.
  • Limited Clinical License (Social Worker, LLPC, LLMSW)
  • Enrollment in MCBAP Development Plan upon hire
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience working with a residential population and experience in staff supervision preferred.
  • Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary team in a residential treatment setting preferred.
  • Subscription to the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Services and agreement with the goal, purpose and objectives of the agency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a holistic therapeutic approach, with specific attention and support to include family in programming, engaging family in treatment, and empowering families to determine direction for clients and themselves.
  • Provide oversight at weekly team meetings and work with the Home Supervisor in overseeing daily routines, program implementation, and establishing a therapeutic milieu.
  • Provide a global agency view to a team by being a bridge between the agency’s administration and program staff through awareness and communication of agency planning, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide financial oversight to the program by monitoring hour banks, supervisor expense line items, and other program expenses. Assess and advocate for the program needs in these areas.
  • Collaborate with the Wellness, Education, and Employment Training program staff to assure the delivery of services.
  • Complete staff evaluations on a timely basis; use staff discipline procedures as necessary, consulting with Human Resources as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the Intake Committee; evaluate the appropriateness of cases for admission to residential programs.
  • Chair and/or participate in various agency committees and task forces on both a continuous and ad hoc basis.
  • Assist and support all staff within their department in the effective carrying out of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop treatment plans for each client, working with the Wellness Specialist, the Educational Coordinator, Employment Training Staff, Home Supervisor, the client’s Goal Worker, and the family. Make appropriate clinical decisions about activities, groups, and events in which the client should participate.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy for case load.
  • Provide a holistic therapeutic approach, with specific attention and support to including family in programming, engaging family in treatment, and empowering family to determine direction for their child and themselves. When no “traditional” family is available as a resource, work to develop alternative support systems for the client.
  • Assist in the education, training, and evaluation of Developmental Care Specialist, leading them to effectively implement treatment programs; supervise the case specific work of the client’s Goal Worker to review goals, progress, support systems and placement planning options.
  • Work closely with the Home Supervisor, providing clinical oversight, in the continued development, monitoring, and staffing of a therapeutic milieu in the program.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor in identifying the therapeutic training needs of the treatment staff which are necessary to maintaining a therapeutic milieu and to meeting the specialized needs of clients in care.
  • Plan client’s visits away from the residential unit, including with whom, when, transportation arrangements and length of visit.
  • Coordinate/oversee client phone calls, clothing orders, mail received and other areas related to the personal needs of clients.
  • Develop treatment objectives and a quarterly case plan collaboratively with the client, their parents, and referring worker. In addition, facilitate a quarterly Case Review Meeting, with all parties in attendance, to discuss the client’s treatment objectives and plan for the next quarter.
  • Track information, beginning at intake and admission, through treatment and into aftercare, which becomes part of the statistical data bank of Wedgwood.
  • Assure meeting of requirements of Managed Care Organizations related to case documentation, authorization and reauthorization, etc.
  • At client discharge, coordinate aftercare plans to insure treatment continuity for the clients psychiatric and therapeutic care.
  • Responsible for tracking and monitoring utilization and outcome data, including quarterly reporting for the all agency report card.
  • Attend residential team meetings.
  • Responsible for quality assurance compliance, including but not limited to participating in peer supervision, peer utilization reviews, compliance with service delivery criteria and reporting requirements for each individual served.
  • Responsible for timely Quality Assurance compliance as related to employee’s roles and functions.
  • On a rotating basis will provide weekend on-call availability for all residential programs.
  • Other duties as assigned

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, flexibility Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
