We have an exciting opportunity for an Email Marketing Manager to join our Communications and Marketing team at our Central Office in Clarendon (Arlington), Virginia(DC-metro area). We are a hybrid office with three days in office and two days remote.

The Email Marketing Manager, under the supervision of the Director of Communications and Publications, is responsible for the coordination of activities relating to the areas including but not limited to deployment of member communications across email and apps. The Manager is responsible for ensuring CEC follows all legal and best practices in relation to email marketing as well as sets the standard for accessibility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work creatively and collaboratively with the Marketing Manager, Communications Manager, and other CEC staff to devise, craft, package and deliver marketing communications that support CEC and its members.
  • Facilitate the organization, design, execution, testing and evaluation of communications to reach a broad range of target audiences.
  • Help develop strategies to plan and evaluate effectiveness of email and mobile app communications and marketing.
  • Manage deployment of all newsletters, including updating web-based blog posts and related sponsorship deliverables.
  • Regularly analyze traffic, track results, gauge success, and report findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Own the deployment process for assigned communications, collaborating with team members from different parts of the organization to keep campaigns moving through tight deadlines.
  • Manage deployment of sponsored emails, app messaging, and communicating with sponsors in collaboration with Strategic Partnerships team.
  • Partner with Membership and Database Manager to ensure data integrity and compliance of email lists and continually identify methods to increase operational efficacy.
  • Ensure CEC follows email list management, mobile app, and marketing best practices and legal requirements for the U.S., Canada, and the abroad.

  • Education: A bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: A minimum of four years related experience including advertising, membership, and/or marketing experience.
  • Ability: A demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain records and materials in an organized manner, attend to details with accuracy, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency with email marketing platforms and list optimization (Informz preferred). Proficiency with list management/CRM databases (NOAH preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with website content management systems (Drupal preferred).

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Association or education field experience.  
  • Experience: Email, app, and member communications experience.
  • Mission: A passion for the organization’s mission and desire to make an overall positive contribution to the organization.
  • Technology Skills: Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Propfuel (email) and apps (Whova and membership-based systems) is a plus.

Work is performed primarily at a desk using a computer. Long periods of sitting and using a computer screen are required.
