Description

The Fair Trade Federation (FTF) is a trade association of fair trade enterprises fully committed to equitable and sustainable trading partnerships. We strengthen and support our members in order to grow the global movement of trade that values the health of the planet, and the labor, dignity, and equality of all people. 

The Membership and Engagement Manager is responsible for managing and guiding the FTF screening process for applicants, and annual renewals for existing members to help ensure the continued integrity of the FTF mark of trust. We are a passionate, dedicated, and flexible team who are working to have a meaningful impact on the world. For this role we are seeking someone who has: 

  • Significant experience with a fair trade organization and/or related ethical/social enterprise, non-profit organization, or NGO.
  • Technological literacy, and proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, HubSpot (or equivalent CRM), WordPress, and/or other databases.
  • Demonstrated excellence and professionalism in oral and written communication.
  • A desire to learn new skills, enjoys solving problems, and is unafraid of tackling the unknown.
  • A deep commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Passion for fair trade and a commitment to the Federation’s values.
  • Willingness to help out as needed due to the small nature of our team.


The Membership and Engagement Manager’s duties will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Lead the application process for applicants and make recommendations regarding acceptance and areas for improvement to the Executive Director and FTF Screening Committee.
  • Lead the management of the Federation’s membership database, recruitment database, and Member Hub.
  • Proactively engage with applicants as needed via phone, email, video-conference, and with current members on the FTF Member Hub.
  • Build relationships with members and potential members by communicating the impact of fair trade and the benefits of membership.
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance member benefits and services.
  • Support the facilitation of the annual Fair Trade Federation conference.
  • Support the fulfillment of the Fair Trade Federation Strategic Plan. 


The FTF is based in Lancaster, PA and preference will be given to those in the greater Lancaster area. However, remote employment in the United States will also be considered. Some periodic travel is required. 


The annual salary for this exempt position is $50,000. Benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • A 4-day workweek (32 hours) and a flexible work environment
  • $400/mo. contribution to an HRA or HSA 
  • 3% matching IRA contribution
  • Paid time off, paid parental leave
