Request For Proposals: Website Design

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy is seeking proposals to redesign its website (currently at www.arroyosfoothills.org). As we grow as an organization we’d like to improve the functionality, aesthetic, front-end and back-end structure, and usability of our website to more effectively convey the scope of our work, and to better connect with our donor and volunteer bases. We’d like a website that can function both as an educational resource for people interested in land conservation and wildlife, and as an integrated platform where our supporters can get involved with our work, find out about events, sign up to volunteer, and donate. 

ABOUT US

Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy (AFC) is a regional land trust preserving land and restoring habitat in and around the San Gabriel and Crescenta Valleys. We work to establish wildlife corridors to support the movement of wildlife throughout our study areas, and we perform hyper-local and original research to inform our land acquisitions and contribute to the field of urban conservation science. We hold community education events on our preserves and have a robust field trip program. 

TIMELINE

Our goal is to begin working with a designer/firm at the beginning of June with the website ready to launch by the end of October.

GOALS

In addition to representing AFC, our website currently functions as a source of information on the ecology of our region, ways to coexist with wildlife, and how to get involved with urban conservation. We’d like to be able to represent our research on the site more effectively with integrated maps and data visuals, and a dynamic and engaging interface that efficiently communicates the wealth of information we provide, and makes it more accessible to navigate.

Additionally, we’d like to be able to better interface with our donors and volunteers. We’d like calendar and event integration, e-commerce, built in forms for donating, becoming a volunteer, and signing up for field trips and events.

Our current website has a disorganized structure of content, limited back-end functionality, and does not effectively function across different devices. 

KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NEW SITE

• E-commerce functionality
• Mapping and GIS data integration
• Embedded forms and automated email responses to end users and staff, with an API integration to existing donor CRM (DonorPerfect) 
• Integrated calendar of events
• Embedded images and videos 
• Compatibility with all major web browsers and responsive design for computers, tablets, and mobile devices
• The site must be designed so that we can perform basic content administration without contractor support.
• The site should integrate with Google Analytics so we can monitor trends in web traffic.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking to work with an individual designer, agency, or studio that can provide expertise and manage the project to keep it on schedule and within our budget. We expect you to:

• Consult with us and align on a finalized scope of work
• Develop a project plan & timeline with internal deadlines & deliverables
• Provide a sitemap and wireframes
• Design a new architecture for our content
• Provide coding for the front-end and back-end of the site
• Migrate content from our current website to the new one preserving URLs and setting up 301 redirects wherever necessary to ensure that no broken links exist
• Deploy the site and refine it through testing
• Provide training to our team for long-term sustainability using the back-end of the site
