The Development Associate will perform duties related to fundraising and will gain firsthand experience in strategic planning to increase the capacity of a growing non-profit organization. The Development Associate will be involved in prospect research and donor stewardship activities related to non-profit fundraising and relationship management, including working with a team to create and implement the fundraising, development, and communications strategy for the ICCT, as well as donor and grant research and tracking.


This is an entry-level position that will report to the Director of Development, and will serve as the catalyst for a successful career in non-profit fundraising and relationship management for the right candidate.


You Will:


  • Development and Fundraising:
  • Work closely with the Director of Development to support new donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to diversify and grow ICCT’s existing donor base.
  • Conduct prospecting research to identify and source potential fundraising opportunities.
  • Assist with the cataloging of written proposal materials that can be used as a resource by ICCT development staff for future proposals.
  • Provide support as needed to monitor and track grant management deliverables and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare briefing materials for funder engagement meetings and new funder meetings.
  • Communication and Coordination:Collaborate with programmatic teams for data collection, management, and reporting on program outcomes and impact.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation as needed.
  • Facilitate communication within the organization and with external partners.
  • Support ad-hoc project management activities and ensure project timelines are met.
  • Schedule and coordinate logistics for internal and external meetings and fundraising activities.
  • Maintain a calendar of events for donor cultivation and stewardship activity.
  • Administrative Support
  • Maintain accurate and up to date donor list.
  • Provide administrative support as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the Development team.
  • Manage and maintain the Development team’s records, databases, and filing systems.


You Have:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Non-profit Management, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in development and fundraising.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office) and Salesforce a plus.
  • Familiarity with non-profit operations and regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Familiarity with the philanthropic landscape of foundations.
  • Strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, and project management skills.
  • Flexibility in varied job assignments.
  • Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.
  • Ability to take initiative, be proactive, creative, and enthusiastic.
  • Strong familiarity with climate change policy and philanthropy and transportation policy desired but not required.
  • Interest and desire to learn how to become an impactful development professional.


Our Benefits


This is a full-time position that will be based in our Washington, D.C., or San Francisco office and have a salary of $68,700 (DC) and $75,600 (SF). We offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, substantial paid vacation, retirement contribution with a generous 7% employer contribution, transportation subsidies, and other benefits.
