Job Summary:

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for securing major gifts ($10,000+) for the AOPA Foundation.

Responsibilities:

1. Portfolio Management

  • Working collaboratively with Manager of Development Research, qualify, contact and cultivate potential donors from prospect pool of AOPA members and other interested parties
  • Effectively manage a portfolio of 75-100 donors with the capacity to make $10,000+ annual gifts
  • Make compelling and effective face-to-face presentations to donors and prospects

2. Donor Strategy and Reporting

  • Working with Manager of Development Research, strategize and secure high-level donor meetings for senior leaders 
  • Working collaboratively with Director of Database Administration and Reporting, provide donor meeting notes, contact reports and next steps in a timely manner

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with at least six years’ experience in fundraising or development

Willingness to travel nationwide extensively

Experience using donor management systems

Adhere to industry standards and best practices and appropriately handle confidential information

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately to meet deadlines

Excellent attention to detail

Strong written and verbal communication skills

A diplomatic and tactful approach, especially when communicating with colleagues and supporters

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Aviation interest required; experience preferred
