Description

The Peer Recovery Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Peer Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer to-peer relationships. 

Qualifications for Peer Recovery Specialist / Manager of Community Resource Navigation & Volunteers

  • Maryland CPRS credentials
  • Previous experience working with various community resources
  • Ability to communicate effectively and with professionalism
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Salesforce tracking software
  • Strong understanding of the goals and standards for our peers
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices for volunteer recruitment and training
  • Dependability, accountability, compassion, and professional
  • Take constructive feedback and implement changes in a timely and professional manner


  • Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support one-on-one and facilitate groups [particularly on days you are assigned]
  • Be the subject matter expert on community resources and relationship manager for connections to services
  • Teach and assist peers with housing needs beyond finding and applying for housing: budgeting for stability, linking to resources, finding furnishings, setting up utilities, etc.
  • Help peers apply for jobs, government cellphone applications, food stamps, health insurance (online applications)
  • Transfer the OOOFC Warmline to volunteers or staff
  • Understand COA’s for various grants and be aware of specific deliverables for all grants
  • Help plan and implement monthly social and educational events for the peers/members
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and Training Manager to support peers’ needs and hand-offs
  • Serve as a point of contact for all volunteers, recruiting, tracking, training, and scheduling 
  • Edit PowerPoint presentations and/or volunteer presentations online through Canva
  • Adhere to the policies of the organization and collaborate with staff members
  • All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director (Board President if ED role is vacant)
