Role Overview: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Grants Manager participates in a comprehensive fundraising program for Pony Power Therapies’ program services, education programs, community engagement initiatives, and special projects. Responsibilities include identifying funding opportunities, managing the writing and application process in its entirety for all grants, communicating directly with internal representatives and potential grantors to discuss grant opportunities, and preparation of grant proposals, applications, reports, budgets and correspondence.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and author Pony Power Therapies’ grant applications with support from the Executive Director and Development Team
  • Manage multiple grants in progress, at various stages and timelines – prospects, applications, follow-up, reapplication, etc.
  • Manage grant information and timelines using CRM (Salesforce) 
  • Maintain relationships in good standing with Grantors to facilitate the multi-year grant cycle for continued/repeat awards
  • Manage and grow a fundraising portfolio of foundation donors, focusing on support for education, community engagement, and other Pony Power projects & initiatives
  • Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with Pony Power’s mission and vision
  • Work collaboratively with all Programming areas, Finance, Development and Communications colleagues to develop program descriptions, budgets and other materials as required for proposals and reports, and to share with Development Team
  • Prepare weekly updates for Development Team meetings
  • Prepare quarterly reports for Board Development Committee

Education & Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a US Department of Education accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of grant writing and grant administration experience.
  • Strong communication and writing skills and computer skills in Word/Excel required.
  • CRM experience required.
  • Non-Profit experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of research resources for foundation fundraising
  • Desire to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, results-oriented team
  • Excellent judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and flexibility

Located on a fully accessible 13-acre farm in Mahwah, New Jersey, we are Bergen County’s only facility that provides horse-assisted activities for people who need extra support. Pony Power also offers nature-based activities, both as stand-alone programs and as a complement to activities with horses.
