Description

The Development Manager will be responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects, and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant-funded projects. They will also develop strategic ask documents for identified key projects and cultivate a portfolio of high-capacity donors.

This position supports CCF’s overall plan to broaden its donor base and commit to long-term donor cultivation. The ideal candidate will support the CCF’s efforts by providing recruitment and stewardship experiences for donors. They possess exceptional communication, strategic, and account management abilities, and are especially competent in supporting and collaborating with colleagues.

Reports To: Director of Operations and Finance

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting a comprehensive range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, government, and corporate sources.
  • Perform prospect research on foundations to evaluate prospects for grants.
  • Work with the Executive Director and relevant CCF staff to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation/government funders on current grant programs.
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate/government donors.
  • Provide input to the annual budget development process.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a funding strategy for CCF programs that addresses our needs for scaling up the impact of our programs.
  • Provide stewardship to current donors and provide regular written updates (newsletters etc.) and personal communications to government and foundation donors.
  • Understand institutional history and programs.
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Provide development input for all written institutional materials (including Annual Report, Member magazine).
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
  • Strong contributor in team environments: strong sense of personal responsibility, professional ethics, and demonstrated respect and sensitivity towards others.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum four years of experience with grant writing.
  • Minimum four years of experience with grant management and execution.
  • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
  • Previous experience with national and international federal grants.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
