Description

Workshop Specialist

We are hiring a Workshop Specialist to organize and facilitate our film-based mental health workshops at colleges and universities throughout the US with a focus in California. Our workshops use a proven curriculum that leverages short film and dialogue to reduce stigma around mental illness, and connect college students with resources both on-campus and in their communities. You will be trained to take our model and apply it successfully, while creatively observing yourself, the workshops, and participant responses to discover areas of possible improvement.

This is a part-time employee position with a lot of travel. The ideal candidate is someone who delights in wearing many different hats, in seeing the big picture while implementing small details, and who has a start-up, all-hands-on-deck mentality about their work.

■ Who We Are

Art With Impact is a nonprofit that promotes mental wellness by creating space for young people to learn and connect through art and media. We serve students by partnering with colleges and universities to offer arts-based workshops that are designed to raise awareness about mental health, increase empathy on campus communities, and reduce the stigma around reaching out for support.

Art With Impact workshops use our short film library to empower young adults, educators, health professionals and community members to gain a better understanding of mental health within their environment. Each workshop inspires and empowers students, showing them that they’re not alone, and connects them with resources available to them. Facilitators leverage the emotional power of short film to inspire conversations that leave communities with increased feelings of connection to each other, reduced stigma around mental health issues, and resources for continued mental health care and education.

Our current workshop roster includes Movies for Mental Health, Wellness in Words, and programs that are currently being piloted to specifically serve 1) Student Athletes and 2) Student Veterans and Cadets or Midshipmen in ROTC programs.

Workshop Specialists oversee every aspect of a workshop from the time it’s booked through evaluation and debrief. You will build relationships with our partner schools and collaborate with campus organizers to plan, market, execute, and debrief the workshops we provide. You’ll gather information about student mental health on campus, set workshop goals and attendance targets, and create a communication and marketing plan with the organizers. You’ll set up the back end resources for the workshop including the registration website, marketing materials, and manage the workshop’s logistics. Afterwards, you’ll summarize the workshop’s participant evaluation results and debrief the organizer’s experience to gather feedback for continual improvement. You’ll collaborate with our clients in ways that maintain relationships on campus and that build new ones with additional partner schools through passionate referrals.

On the other hand, you are a tried and true professional. You adhere to deadlines, maintain regular communication with your team and our partners. You have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team to provide the best experience possible to the students and schools we serve.
