Summer Education Mentor

Seedleaf, a 16 year old community gardening organization is seeking a summer education mentor to assist with youth programming and outreach with community partners for Summer 2024. This includes the summer program S.E.E.D.S for middle school students as well as FRESHS,  Seedleaf’s high school program. The mentor will also be in charge of  coordinating Seedleaf’s garden club time at local elementary schools and summer camps.

This job will require the Summer Education Mentor to:  

• Build relationships with summer camp leaders and institutions
• Carryout a 8 week curricula for Summer SEEDS programming. 
• Carryout an 8 week curricula for Summer FRESHS programming. 
• Work with Seedleaf staff to develop weekly garden club/outdoor learning activities for local camps and school school programs.
• Perform routine garden maintenance as it applies to youth programming during the summer months.

The mentor will work with Seedleaf program collaborators, FoodChain, on program delivery through our partnership program 'Bluegrass Urban Farm Friends grant (BUFF)' to achieve youth programing aims.

• The applicant must be fluent in English.
• Be able to spend significant time outdoors lifting, bending and walking.
• Needs to pass a background check and have no pre-exisiting criminal record
• Needs at minimum a high school diploma.
• Needs to feel comfortable being around youth, grades 5-11.
