About Us

Who We Are

The Campus Kitchen at Northwestern University (CKNU) was a part of a national non-profit organization called The Campus Kitchens Project (CKP).CKP was a national leader in community service and is part of the future of hunger relief. We have now become our own entity at Northwestern University, continuing to fight hunger in Evanston. During the 2018-2019 academic year we recovered 9,643 pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste to create 15,865 meals. As a volunteer-driven organization, we wouldn’t be able to serve our community without the generous help of students and community members!

What We Do

The Campus Kitchen at Northwestern (CKNU) fights food waste on campus and food insecurity in Evanston and the Chicagoland area. We recover food from campus dining halls and local organizations that would otherwise go wasted and re-purposes it into balanced meals for food insecure individuals in the Evanston community.
