In local communities across the country, March of Dimes is helping moms have full term pregnancies and researching the problems that threaten the health of babies. In 2011 we made measurable headway in our national campaign to prevent preterm birth. The preterm birth rate continues to drop for its fourth consecutive year to 11.9 percent of all births. We launched coordinated efforts in public and professional education through the launching of Healthy Babies Are Worth the Wait, a community based approach to preventing preventable preterm births. We remain committed to bringing science into service by investing more than $14 million.
