Alliance to Develop Power / ADP

About Us

ADP works in three overlapping and mutually reinforcing areas: community economic development, community building, and organizing. Their organizing work is directed towards creating new or expanding existing political-economic institutions that ADP members own such as community owned housing and worker controlled businesses. This community economy—which provides family sustaining jobs and empowers ADP members to make ethical economic decisions—fosters social ties, deepens social relationships, and helps to generate new ideas and energy to organize around. Similarly, ADP’s community building efforts—including parties and social events, social services, and educational projects—work towards cultivating the interpersonal relationships and trust needed to fortify the ADP community economy, as well as strengthen ADP’s organizing initiatives and build organizing power.
