We Care Solar Mission

We Care Solar (WCS) brings light and essential energy to healthcare by providing solar energy solutions for health clinics without reliable electricity.

Our non-profit social enterprise was co-founded by a physician and a solar innovator. We address an important gap in health care delivery – that of reliable electricity for health facilities. Our signature product is our award-winning Solar Suitcase - a low-cost, rugged, complete solar energy system that can be portable or mounted permanently, which has been deployed to health centers in over 20 countries. Additionally, we train installers and health care providers in the installation, use and maintenance of our compact solar electric systems. We Care Solar has received numerous awards, including the 2011 Tech Award and 2013 CNN Top 10 Heroes, and has been featured prominently in the media for our work to light up lives around the world.

Our organization is growing. We are looking for energetic team members who are committed to our mission, work well in a start-up environment, enjoy taking initiative and have a track record of success. We are currently an organization of approximately six full-time employees and several part-time contractors committed to implementing the WCS vision. The organization’s budget for 2014 is estimated to be over $1 million.
